Module 2: Leadership and Social Determinants of Health

Purpose

This module is intended to develop leadership skills, introduce best practices for working with diverse populations, problem-solving strategies and introduces public health foundational knowledge.

Learning Objectives

  • What is expected of leaders and what leaders can and should expect from those around them
  • Knowledge of the local HIV epidemic, including communities disproportionately impacted
  • Leadership skills, including communication, decision-making in a consensus environment, persuasion, accountability, empowering others, facilitating group process, empathy and compassion
  • Cultural competency for working with diverse populations
